Lower Stack Style: Life in the gutters is rendered as a gritty, cel-shaded 2D GTA cartoon.
The Anti-Break Rule: Sync Executives never transition forms; their permanent, flawless animation reinforces their lack of humanity and emotional capacity.
Filter Bleed: When UpperRoom citizens travel to the Lower Stack, their high-end AR struggles without the Spire's server support, causing the 3D anime overlay to lag and tear over the 2D grime.
The Subscriber Loop (Economic Rules)
The Brain Power Tax: The UpperRoom is flawless reality is rendered by hijacking the subconscious processing power of the Lower Stack.
The Token Economy: Lower Stack citizens are locked into a monthly subscription model, surrendering real-world resources and "brain power" for an allotment of digital "Tokens".
The Tether and Drop: Base-level AR implants have a hard-capped daily connection limit.
The Disconnection: When Tokens run out, the AR filter violently snaps off, slamming the user back into their harsh 2D reality.
Premium Illusions: Extra tokens dictate access to the Helix and can be spent to unlock premium "UpperRoom Experiences" (high-end AR illusions manipulating physical space and senses) right inside Lower Stack cells.
The Resolution Break Mechanics
The Trigger: A character must hit a moment of absolute emotional truth, vulnerability, or raw musical performance to break the simulation.
The Break: Upon breaking, the digital animation (Anime or GTA) shatters, revealing the character in High-Definition Live Action.
The Sovereignty Clause: Rollz (The Technician) is the only character with 4th Wall Sovereignty (or your main character in your story) meaning they can trigger a "Command Break" without a song or emotional peak.
Law Enforcement & Commerce
The Bio-Signature Act: When an artist or civilian "Ascends," Sync Corp takes legal ownership of their DNA sequence, vocal prints, and likeness.
Under the Bio-Signature Act, Sync Corp claims that raw human emotion is a public health hazard because it introduces "volatility". To protect the public and keep everyone safely inside their sedative dopamine loops, Sync Corp enforces The Optimization Mandate.
This law dictates that all media, art, and data must be processed through Sync Corp's algorithmic filters before being consumed. Bypassing these filters is a federal crime.
-Raw Audio Offenses: This covers the original voice rule. Broadcasting unquantized music, unfiltered podcasts, raw spoken-word poetry, or un-autotuned vocals.
-Raw Visual Offenses: Distributing unedited photography of the Lower Stack, physical media like traditional oil paintings, unsanitized graffiti, or subversive meme formats that haven't been approved by the algorithms.
-Raw Data Offenses: Uploading independent news streams, creating rogue code that temporarily disables AR filters, or distributing text that uses banned, high-emotion vocabulary.
The Soul Factor: Authentic music (raw R&B, drill, boom-bap, metal, ect) creates "volatility" and can literally crash the stock market distort reality in the UpperRoom.
The Rule of the Breach: Any unauthorized injection of reality (unquantized data, art, biology) into the optimized world creates a massive system error.
The Traceback & Blind Raid: Sync Corp traces the vector of a Breach backwards to the Lower Stack and blindly raids that specific sector to terrorize the population until the smuggler is found.
Spin-Off Creator Rules
The Dual Perspective: Creators must define a collision between Character 1 (The Sync Asset) and Character 2 (The Deadzone Rebel) and the exact moment their "Resolution Break" shatters the animation.
The Breach Mechanic: Creators must establish the Contraband being pushed upward, the Choke Point where it crosses the border, and the Fallout of Bain's blind raid.
The Civilian Stance: Creators must define the local temperature of the Lower Stack whether civilians act as Sympathizers (fans who hide contraband) or Informants (masses who sell rebels out).
